Pohjois-Savo, also Norra Savolax, or Northern Savonia has its regional capital in the city of Kuopio.

Region is known for its high-quality livestock farming such as dairy, beef, pig, and egg production, as well as animal feed products. More than one-fourth of countries' berries are grown and picked in the region.
