Kymenlaakso or Kymmenedalen is a home region for the most important import harbour in the whole country – the harbour of the city of Kotka, located in the delta of one of the biggest rivers in Finland - River Kymi. 

The agricultural sector of the region is mainly focused on grain, meat, and forestry production.
